How to set up your account
Your name, your picture, your timezone and your password — and why the timezone matters more than you would expect.
What you will learn
- Where your own details live
- How to change your password
- Why your timezone affects every time you see
My account holds everything about you: your profile, your picture, your password and your preferences.
Set your timezone first
Every time in the system — class times, deadlines, when a register was taken — is stored once and then shown to you in your timezone. If your timezone is wrong, every time you see is wrong, and you will miss a class without ever being told anything untrue.
Step 1. Click your name at the top, then My account.
Step 2. Check the timezone shown against where you actually are.
Step 3. Correct it if it is wrong, and save.
Your picture
Upload one if you like. It appears beside your name in lists, discussions and messages. It is optional.
Keep your sign-in details to yourself
Your account can hand work in under your name. Never share your password, and never let somebody else sign in as you — including a manager or a family member. If they need to see your progress, there is a proper way to arrange that, explained in the next section.
What you should see
Your details are right, and the times you see match the clock on your wall.
Helpful tips
- If class times look an hour out after a clock change, your timezone is the first thing to check.
