Welcome: what this account is for
What you can do here, the handful of words that appear everywhere, and what you are responsible for.
What you will learn
- What you use this system for
- The words you will meet on every screen
- What nobody else will do for you
This is where your course lives. You use it to see when your classes are, find the work you have been set, hand that work in, take quizzes, and see how you are doing.
You are studying on your own account
Nobody outside the school is following your progress, and nobody is going to chase you about a deadline. Your tutor will mark what you hand in; keeping track of what to hand in, and when, is yours to do. The dashboard is built for exactly that, and it is the one screen worth opening regularly.
Words you will see everywhere
- Course
- The subject itself — what is taught, at what level, over how many hours.
- Batch
- Your actual class: one group taking a course together, with its own dates, its own tutor and its own timetable. It has a number, and that number appears all over the system.
- Session
- One class. A batch is made of sessions.
- Enrollment
- Your place on a batch.
- Assignment
- A piece of work you hand in by a date.
- Quiz
- A set of questions marked by the system, usually with a time limit.
- Examination
- A scheduled, supervised assessment.
- Grade book
- Every individual mark you have earned on a course.
- Transcript
- The formal, final record of how you did, produced at the end.
